Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' status for this weekend's AFC Championship Game is in jeopardy due to a neck injury suffered Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Colin Cowherd thinks the NFL should drop everything and postpone until Mahomes is cleared for action.

The polarizing FOX Sports personality said everyone wants to see Mahomes against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, so the league should simply postpone to accommodate this desire.

The NFL is not going to hold up its playoff schedule. What Cowherd proposes is absurdly unrealistic. Not to mention, there is still a possibility Mahomes could be cleared to play for the Chiefs in Sunday's game.

The former league MVP left Sunday's Divisional Playoff game after landing awkwardly on his neck following a tackle by Browns linebacker Mack Wilson. Mahomes was visibly dazed once he stood up, needing support to steady himself. He was taken into the blue tent for further evaluation, then went to the locker room and was ruled out for the game shortly thereafter.

Although Mahomes is in the NFL's concussion protocol, he appears to have suffered a neck injury. So long as he passes tests later in the week regarding the tweaked nerve, he could be good to go for the showdown with the upcoming Bills.

Cowherd is surely not alone in his desire to see both the Chiefs and Bills at full strength in a matchup of arguably the two most exciting and explosive passing attacks in football. Fans would much prefer Mahomes to be healthy.

But to expect the NFL to move the game is absurd.
