Back in late November of last year, the Kansas City Chiefs shocked everyone by parting ways with star running Kareem Hunt. The team didn't hesitate to make the move after a video surfaced showing his altercation with a woman. Even though he played a crucial role in the high-powered offense, Kansas City hasn't missed a beat with Damien Williams coming in and filling the void.

Ahead of the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots, head coach Andy Reid talked about the job Williams has done since taking over for Hunt. Reid praised the running back for stepping up in a difficult position, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

“Yeah, we started doing it kind of by committee and then Damien worked in there, Damien Williams,” Reid said. “I think he’s done a nice job. We still spot other guys in there. They all play. But I think he’s really stepped up and those are big shoes to fill and I think he’s done a nice job with it.”

The Chiefs will need Williams to keep firing on all cylinders on Sunday when the team takes on the Patriots who are as experienced as any team in the NFL in these conference championship games.

Against the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round, Williams continued to play well for Kansas City Chiefs rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Kansas City made work of Indianapolis with Williams helping lead the charge, and a similar performance might be needed to get the best of the Patriots.
