Could the Kansas City Chiefs part ways with linebacker Dee Ford? If the right offer comes along, they might.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Chiefs, who just placed a franchise tag on Ford, are open to trading Ford for a second-round draft pick. However, if no teams bite, then Kansas City will be happy to keep Ford for 2019.

The Chiefs feel that Ford might be a better fit in a 3-4 defense elsewhere.

The 27-year-old is coming off of a season in which he racked up 55 tackles, 13 sacks, and a league-leading seven forced fumbles en route to his first Pro Bowl appearance.

However, the most memorable moment of Ford's season unfortunately came during the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots, when his neutral zone infraction penalty wiped out what likely would have been a game-sealing interception by Charvarius Ward. The Chiefs then went on to lose in overtime.

Ford, who played his collegiate football at Auburn University, was originally selected by Kansas City in the first round (23rd pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.
