The Kansas City Chiefs would probably admit that one of the most intriguing wide receivers about to hit the free-agent market is Demarcus Robinson.

Robinson has spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Chiefs, but due to all of the talent in the Chiefs' receiving corps, he hasn't gotten much of an opportunity.

But NFL Network analyst and former pro wideout Nate Burleson feels that is about to change. He thinks the Chiefs receiver will receive a rather surprising payday this offseason:

“Demarcus Robinson will get broken off,” Burleson said. “It’s going to be one of those things [where] we’ll be sitting at home, we’re going to pick up the paper — if people still read it — or pick up your phone and go, ‘Wait. Demarcus Robinson got what?’ And he’s worth every penny, because teams are going to look at him and say, ‘If we give him more opportunities, he’s going to give us more production.’”

Burleson may well be right.

Robinson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Florida, was originally selected by the Chiefs in the fourth round (126th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He didn't a log a single catch during his rookie campaign. The following year, he finished with 21 catches for 212 yards. Robinson then totaled 22 grabs for 288 yards and four touchdowns in 2018, and this past season, he caught 32 passes for 449 yards and four scores with the Chiefs.

A big chunk of the 25-year-old's production in 2019 came in Week 2, when he hauled in six receptions for 172 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a win for the Chiefs over the Oakland Raiders.

Perhaps Demarcus Robinson will have more opportunities to have those types of weeks in a different uniform next season, not the Chiefs.
