Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has been one of the top names brought up as next in line for a head coaching gig for a couple of years now.

Most have assumed it would be in the NFL. With the University of Southern California firing Clay Helton after their Week 2 loss to Stanford, Bieniemy's name has popped up as a replacement. On Thursday, the Chiefs' offensive coordinator addressed those rumors.

“I think you guys know me better than that. So if USC reached out to me right now, my answer would be I am preparing for this team to play against the Baltimore Ravens. And that’s how I roll, you guys know that,” Bieniemy said. “I am where my feet are, OK? My job is to make sure we’re ready to play a complete, sound, 60-minute football game where we can come out and win the game.”

Bieniemy is from the Southern California area and attended high school there as well. ESPN's Adam Schefter came out with an interesting nugget regarding something that the Chiefs' OC had said in the past.

Still, Bieniemy is focused on the Chiefs getting a Week 2 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

“I’m not worried about anything where my name is being mentioned. My job right now is to make sure that we’re preparing for this weekend’s opponent.”

It'll be interesting to see how the coaching search unravels for USC and if Bieniemy would even opt to take an interview for the position if the Trojans wanted to go that route.
