Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has one of the most remarkable coaching resumes in the league. His experience and accolades make him the perfect head coaching candidate. However, he hasn't been able to land a top coaching job yet despite interviewing for positions in each of the past two years.

In a recent appearance on NFL Total Access, Bieniemy spoke out about his coaching future.

“I've always been a patient man,” the Chiefs OC told Steve Wyche on Tuesday, per Grant Gordon of NFL.com. “I get an opportunity to work with coach Andy Reid, [general manager] Brett Veach, Mark Donovan our president and then our owner Clark Hunt. I have nothing to worry about. In order to get a job, you gotta make sure you're doing your job.

“So, I'm blessed and fortunate to be in the situation that I'm in. And on top of that, the only thing I know Steve, is the grind. And when the timing is right, it will be right. And it has to be a great fit. So, being patient, I have no problem with that. The only thing I know how to do is keep chopping wood. And everything will work out for the best when it's all said and done.”

Due to the NFL's updated Rooney Rule, they require organizations to interview two minority coaches during a head coaching search. This past offseason, Eric Bieniemy interviewed for three head coaching jobs: the Carolina Panthers, the Cleveland Browns, and the New York Giants. However, he was denied from all three teams.

It remains to be seen if he will be able to land a head coaching job in the near future. Nonetheless, one thing is for sure: the Chiefs are lucky to have him guiding their offense as the 2020 season gets closer.
