Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher is set to have core muscle surgery according to James Palmer of NFL Network.

Fisher was a late addition to the injury report last week after suffering a groin injury late in the week in practice. He did start the game on Sunday against Oakland Raiders but came out rather early in the game and didn't return. According to Chiefs coach Andy Reid, Fisher didn't make the injury worse by trying to play through it.

Cam Erving will get the start in place of Fisher on Sunday when the Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens in a showdown between undefeated teams.

Fisher has been Mr. consistent on the offensive line for the Chiefs since being drafted first overall in the 2013 NFL draft.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Dr. William C Meyers will be performing the surgery and the recovery time is usually 4-6 weeks.

When Reid was asked about the recovery time, he didn't have an answer and said it's still too early to know if Fisher will need to go to the injured reserve.

If the recovery time is only 4-6 weeks, it won't make much sense for the team to put him on the IR, but if it's determined he needs a longer recovery time he could still end up on it.

The Chiefs offense is going to be miss Fisher, especially in the run game, but they did perform well without him against the Oakland Raiders, and the hope is that can continue the next few weeks.
