The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t just dash the hopes of the Washington Redskins to extend their win streak on Monday. They also burned the hopes of bettors who backed the Redskins’ seven-point spread as underdogs to cash in. On the flipside, the Chiefs set those who picked them to cover the point-spread up with a cool payout. Additionally, the over for total points scored was also surpassed.

This all happened thanks to star Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston, who picked up a Washington fumble and scampered towards the end zone for a touchdown as time expired.

The Chiefs won, 29-20, but the score could’ve been just 23-20 after new Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker drilled a 43-yard field goal with just four ticks remaining on the game clock to break the tie and give his team the lead. But, Washington made a subsequent desperate attempt for a lateral play that ended in the mishap, which turned into a score by Houston.

In the betting world, it’s called a front door cover. It happens when the favored team beats the spread late in the game.

With the win (and the cover), the Chiefs join the Buffalo Bills as the only team unbeaten against the spread in each of their four games thus far this season.
