The Kansas City Chiefs have released the following statement in response to an investigation of battery against superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

“The club is aware of the investigation. We’re in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities. We’ll have no further comment at this time.”

The Kansas City Star’s Steve Vockrodt and Brooke Pryor reported on Friday that Hill was the subject of a probe by the Overland Park, KS police department involving the alleged battery of a child. The Star first learned of the incident courtesy of a report filed by local police.

Hill’s fiancee, Crystal Espinal, is listed on the report as “others involved.” A source with knowledge of the incident told The Star that Espinal, currently pregnant with twins, has been in contact with authorities. The couple’s young son is reportedly the victim of the alleged battery. Hill has not been charged with a crime, and it’s unclear if any charges will ultimately be brought against him.

This is the second time Hill, a three-time Pro Bowler, has been accused of battery. In 2014, while a student at Oklahoma State, Hill pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation after Espinal, his girlfriend at the time, accused him of punching and choking her. She was pregnant with the couple's son during the assault.

In late November, the Chiefs released star running back Kareem Hunt after video surfaced of him shoving and kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel in February 2018.
