The record-breaking contract extension of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sent excitement to the whole locality during the offseason. A liquor store employee named Katie Camlin was the first person to break the news of the signing after she previously tweeted on a Chiefs front-office employee who came to Plaza Liquor and bought six bottles of Dom Perignon champagne.

After two months since the signing of Mahomes, the Chiefs organization decided to give a gift to one of their faithful fans as shared by ESPN Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Twitter:

After a successful 2019 season that ended on a 12-4 record and a Super Bowl LIV title, the Kansas City Chiefs decided to run it back with the players that they had on their roster.

Back in July, the club and Mahomes previously agreed on a lucrative 10-year, $503 million dollar contract extension with the Chiefs, making it the largest contract in sports history. It turned out that the agreement was the first of many paychecks to be handed by the front office to their core players.

A week later, the organization then signed defensive tackle Chris Jones to a four-year, $85 million contract, which includes a guaranteed $60 million upon signing. Tight end Travis Kelce also secured the bag in August as he agreed to a four-year, $57.25 million agreement to stay with the Chiefs.

The shopping spree made by the franchise turned out to pay dividends as the team scored an opening game statement in a 34-20 win against the Houston Texans. With their star players back at the helm, the Chiefs are all in on their goal to defend their Super Bowl crown this season.
