Mitchell Schwartz, one of the top tackles in the NFL, will be staying with the Kansas City Chiefs for one more year after agreeing to an extension with the team.

Schwartz was already signed through the 2020 season but with the extension, he will be in Kansas City through at least 2021.

Schwartz joined the Chiefs before the 2016 season signing a five-year deal worth $33 million. Many believed the Chiefs got a great deal with the signing and with the way he has played since joining the team it has looked even more like a steal.

The details haven't been released yet on how much the extension is worth but this could be rewarding him for his great play.

Schwartz doesn't take plays off and during the 2018 season played his 8,000 snap in a row. There are many who have not missed a game but they have taken plays off Schwartz not missing a play especially playing on the offensive line is super impressive. That means during the streak he never even suffered a stinger that caused him to miss one play.

He also won the PFF Matthews Award for his play during the 2018 season which is handed out to the top offensive lineman in all the league. Both his run blocking and pass blocking was in the top ten of PFF's list for all offensive lineman.

Keeping Patrick Mahomes upright is the most important job for the Chiefs and Schwartz and the rest of the offensive line has done a good job keeping him on his feet.
