The Kansas City Chiefs’ comeback win over the Washington Football Team in Week 6 sure was a roller-coaster contest for the reigning AFC champions.

The first half for Kansas City was filled with turnovers and uncharacteristic errors. On the defensive side of the ball, the Chiefs allowed a trio of scoring drives to the Taylor Heinicke-led Washington offense.

Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu sure was far from pleased with the performance of his team over the first two quarters, as cameras were rolling when he was shown visibly upset during the late stages of the half.

After the 31-13 win over Washington, Mathieu touched on his frustrations with Kansas City's showing in the first half of the contest.

“When you are not doing the things that you practice, the things that you expect, somebody has to hold everybody accountable,” Mathieu said. “I'm just glad that my guys stayed focused throughout the game and we were able to comeback in the second half and really put together a good defensive performance.”

Mathieu also noted after the win that he sees plenty of potential with the Chiefs defense, but the unit must meet its keen expectations.

“It's high expectations, we can be a championship defense,” Mathieu said. “After a while, you have to play a certain way.”

As Mathieu mentioned, the Chiefs orchestrated a well-rounded defensive performance in the second half. The Chiefs held Washington scoreless over the final two quarters of the game, and defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton recorded a key interception late in the contest that sealed the win.

Next up for Kansas City will be the key road clash against the Tennessee Titans in Week 7.
