The Kansas City Chiefs have lost a game for the first time in almost a year.

Losing to the Las Vegas Raiders today has ended their 13-game winning streak.

Culminating in their first Super Bowl in half a century, the Chiefs had won their last six regular-season games and all of their three playoffs games. They then started off the 2020 season strong, winning their first four games before losing earlier on Sunday.

Led by Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have become one of the best teams in the NFL and are considered the favorites to win back-to-back Super Bowls this season.

They lost a nail-biter earlier today, with Kansas City falling behind 40-24 late into the fourth quarter. They would come back and score a touchdown with 3:57 left to go in the game and looked to stop on defense to get the ball back, but a fourth down quarterback dive by Derek Carr would seal the game after the Chiefs' defense came up strong on third down.

While the Chiefs certainly would have liked to have kept their winning streak alive this may be a kick in the pants to give them the edge needed to get to the Super Bowl once more. Following the game Mahomes did not look happy, walking off the field without interacting with any Raiders as is customary and instead heading straight to the locker room.

With how those around him have spoken about his competitiveness, comparing him to Michael Jordan, Mahomes will be looking to make sure this never happens again this season. The Chiefs will look to bounce back against the Buffalo Bills next week.
