Former Kansas City Chief running back Kareem Hunt sat down with Lisa Salters on ESPN's Sunday Countdown to discuss his pushing and kicking of a woman inside a Cleveland hotel.

On Nov. 30, TMZ released video of the incident, which occurred last February, and Hunt was placed on the commissioner's exempt list and subsequently cut by Kansas City. In the interview, Hunt said he was unaware that video of his actions existed until TMZ had released it.

“I want to let the world know how sorry I am for my actions,” he told Salters per Ryan Hannable of WEEI. “It’s been a tough time for me. I am extremely embarrassed by that video … I am very embarrassed and ashamed for myself. I want to do whatever it takes to earn people’s trust back and show I am a really good guy.”

Hunt also confirmed a report from Adam Schefter that the NFL did not reach out to him when they originally investigated the incident. In their statement releasing Hunt, the Chiefs also noted that Hunt had lied to them about what happened, Hunt also confirmed this.

“The Chiefs are right. I didn’t tell them everything,” he said. “I don’t blame them for anything. My actions caused this… I felt like I let the Chiefs down, my family down, those players down. They are like my brothers.”

Hunt added that he plans on seeking counseling for anger management. Reports also indicate that he will likely go unclaimed on waivers.

Kansas City currently has the best record in the AFC at 9-2 and trail only the New Orleans Saints—who have already played their week 13 matchup against Dallas— in points scored. Hunt had already eclipsed 1,000 yards from scrimmage on the year, tallying 824 rushing yards and 378 reviving yards. Spencer Ware will start in Hunt's place against Oakland this afternoon.
