It's hard to imagine that the 2018 NFL MVP and the reigning Super Bowl MVP can get better. Believe it or not, Patrick Mahomes has so much more potential and according to Pro Football Hall of Famer, Kurt Warner, it can be as simple as improving his footwork.

“I heard Patrick Mahomes talking about it last year. How he goes back and he self scouts and he self scouts his technique and specifically his footwork. That’s one thing that I’ll notice. When you get talented guys like Patrick Mahomes, like Aaron Rodgers, they’re so used to getting away with doing things with their special arms and special arm talent that they get away with bad footwork sometimes.” Warner said in a recent appearance on the NFL Network (h/t Chiefs Wire).

As per Warner, improving his footwork will only lead to better plays for Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The former QB cited some instances in Super Bowl LIV where the signal-caller could've converted if only he got a grip on his footwork.

Warner added, “He finds himself stepping one direction, trying to throw it another direction, the balls will get away from him a little bit and lead to bad plays. Now he’s usually able to overcome that with the special plays that he makes. But if he can clean up his footwork and become more efficient from throw to throw to throw, not just the big throws, but on the normal everyday throws that you’re asked to make, I think Patrick Mahomes can get better than he’s been over these first few years. And we all know he’s been incredible.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire league has been forced to isolate and do their own personal workouts and Mahomes is using this time to zero on in exactly what the Hall of Famer is saying. Mahomes told NFL legend Troy Polamalu in a recent interview that footwork is something he's always worked on and one of the only things he can currently work on right now at home.

It seems like it's nowhere but up for the young Chiefs star.
