Former Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy had his wish come true by signing with the Kansas City Chiefs—reuniting with former head coach Andy Reid.

The 31-year-old McCoy spent six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles to begin his professional career. During that time, Reid, now coaching for the Chiefs since 2013, led the team from the sidelines for McCoy's first four seasons. McCoy earned three Pro-Bowl selections and two first-team All-Pro selections, mostly ushered in by Reid's trust in the running back, propelling McCoy's career, status, and reputation in the NFL.

Now McCoy and Reid and back together in Kansas City. McCoy signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs worth $3 million after the Buffalo Bills released the back on Saturday.

While being introduced for the first time as a member of the Chiefs—last season's AFC No. 1 seed, losing to the New England Patriots in overtime of the Championship Game—McCoy explained why he gravitated back to Reid, deciding to reunite.

Per ESPN's Adam Teicher:

“I love Coach Reid. The biggest thing for me is he's always been honest from day one … as a coach, I've learned so much from him. … I'm an older player and I want to stretch my career out as long as possible — and [be] productive as well.”

“Shady” also complimented his former and current coach's offensive acumen, expressing a fondness for how Reid reads the field and designs plays for the running back.

The Chiefs are hoping McCoy can bring a big boost in the backfield for star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, last season's MVP.

The franchise has a bevy of dynamic, playmaking offensive options, but with the release of Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill embattled in legal quandaries, the Chiefs would stand to greatly benefit from Reid and McCoy stirring up their old magic.
