Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had a lot of regular-season success during his coaching career entering the 2019 NFL season, but he had little to show in terms of postseason. Reid's lone trip to the Super Bowl ended in a loss to the New England Patriots during the 2004 season, and he has numerous losses in conference championship games.

Naturally, there was quite a bit of validation that came with the Chiefs' victory in Super Bowl 54.

Running back LeSean McCoy recently told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network he was overwhelmed at seeing his head coach break into tears after finally realizing the ultimate achievement in football.

Reid took a chance on McCoy after the former All-Pro was cut by the Buffalo Bills.

Reid had experience coaching McCoy during their years together with the Philadelphia Eagles, where McCoy would blossom into one of the best running backs in the NFL.

“Shady” led the NFL with 20 total touchdowns in 2011, and just two years later, he led the NFL in rushing yards (1,607) and yards from scrimmage (2,146).

McCoy was coming off a tough year with the Bills, but the Chiefs–who had questions of their own in the backfield–jumped at the chance to sign him to a one-year deal. McCoy would go on to start nine of 13 games with Kansas City, totaling 646 yards from scrimmage and averaging 4.6 yards per carry.

Though McCoy did not play in the final few games of Kansas City's run to the Lombardi Trophy, he still shared in the achievement with Reid.

McCoy is currently a free agent, though he has repeatedly insisted he wants to keep playing.
