NBA icon Magic Johnson once again called Patrick Mahomes as “Magic Man,” with the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback showing why he deserves to be the NFL MVP.

Johnson made the bold statement via Twitter.

Johnson isn't just saying this to boost Mahomes' stock. The statistics and various football analysts strongly believe that Mahomes is having a spectacular year.

Through the first nine games of the season with the Chiefs, Mahomes has completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 2,687 yards with 25 touchdown passes to one interception. He has a passer rating of 115.9, which is better than his numbers in 2018 when he won his first MVP trophy.

In the first nine games of that 2018 campaign, Mahomes completed 66.25 percent of his passes for 2,901 yards with 29 touchdowns to seven interceptions, recording a 116.7 passer rating.

Just like the Los Angeles Lakers legend, several people have expressed their awe of Mahomes.

Per Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, Mahomes shared his mindset this season compared to last year. According to the Chiefs star, he simply has a better grip on the game this season.

“I think I just understand the game more,” the Chiefs QB explained. “I would say last year, whenever I didn't have as many stats to back it up, I'd guess you would say, I felt like I was playing better last year than I did the year before. This year, obviously, we're getting the touchdowns we didn't have last year, I guess you would say, but I feel like every year I'm getting more comfortable within the offense. I'm more comfortable reading defenses, and I understand where the balls going to go before the snap of the ball.”

Time will only tell if Patrick Mahomes does bag the second MVP trophy of his career, but things are looking bright for the 25-year-old quarterback.
