After trading away Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, the Kansas City Chiefs were left with a hole in the wide receiver room. Although Juju Smith-Schuster is a talented player, Kansas City needed a deep threat. Luckily, the front office signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Thursday to at least fill that void.

The Chiefs might have found a great receiving option in Valdes-Scantling, as the former Green Bay Packer took to Twitter to show his appreciation for his new contract. He reveals how he was cut as a freshman in high school and how grateful he is to have a career in the NFL.

This is an awesome moment for Marquez Valdes-Scantling. He's defeated the odds to have a legitimate career as a professional athlete. It's always nice to hear success stories in sports. They definitely humanize the athletes many idolize. However, it sounds like the Chiefs signed a great replacement for Hill, as he is a true speedster who can stretch the field.

He's not the same caliber of a receiver as Tyreek Hill, but Marquez Valdes-Scantling brings some serious speed. It'll be interesting to see what the Chiefs do in the NFL Draft, as they could still select an exciting prospect receiver to join the team. Regardless, Valdes-Scantling is happy to be in Kansas City and he has a chance to play a major role in that offense.

We'll see how the rest of the offseason plays out, but the AFC West is stacked. Hopefully, the Chiefs are able to obtain talented rookies, as they'll need a big boost from them to keep up with the rest of the division.
