The Kansas City Chiefs almost reached the Super Bowl in 2018-19, before ultimately coming up short against the heralded New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. While the Chiefs offense will need little work this offseason, it appears as though the team's defense is heading in a different direction.

According to multiple reports, the Chiefs will be hiring Matt House as the franchise's next defensive coordinator.

“The Matt House-to-Kansas City fiasco is finally over, but it’s not a result that favors Kentucky,” reports KentuckySportsRadio.com. “After ultimately deciding on staying at Kentucky rather than making the jump to coach Kansas City Chiefs this weekend, the AFC runner-up made a second run at the UK defensive coordinator last night. Now, sources tell KSR that House WILL, in fact, take the job with Kansas City and Kentucky will now have to look for a new defensive coordinator.”

This story continues to take odd turns as it was previously noted that the Kentucky Wildcats would not let House out of his deal with the SEC school.

“After KSR broke the news on Saturday evening that House was likely staying at Kentucky, the school soon came out and confirmed that the UK defensive coordinator had turned down the Chiefs and would be staying at the school,” KentuckySportsRadio.com adds. “Soon after, Terez Paylor of Yahoo Sports! released a report indicating UK was not willing to let him out of his deal and that he wanted to join the Chiefs.”

Nonetheless, it seems as though the Chiefs have finally landed their man.
