Despite being without last year's league MVP in quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs managed to defeat the surging Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.

With veteran backup quarterback Matt Moore being handed the keys to the offense in the absence of the currently injured Mahomes, the journeyman signal-caller stepped up in a big way against the Vikings — and that might be an understatement.

Moore connected on 25 of 35 passing attempts as a result of Sunday afternoon's 26-23 win en route to producing 275 yards through the air. Moore notably averaged of 7.9 yards per passing attempt in Week 9 and credited his Chiefs teammates for their stellar play around him as the team's latest victory was certainly the result of a well-rounded team effort.

“It comes down to your own guys,” Moore said after his team's narrow victory over the Vikings, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk.

While Moore definitely has a litany of weapons surrounding him in tight end Travis Kelce and wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is equally responsible for the perennial backup's recent stretch of success.

“I can’t say enough good things about him,” Moore said regarding the Chiefs head coach, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk. “It’s been an incredible experience.”

With Moore helping the 6-3 Chiefs stay atop the AFC West division in the absence of Mahomes, it will more than likely be business as usual for Kansas City come Week 10 against the 4-5 Tennessee Titans. Mahomes, who is still nursing a lingering knee injury, is expected to return to the field next week.
