After audio of Kansas City Chiefs star Tyreek Hill discussing his son’s injuries with the boy’s mother leaked earlier this year, there were rumors that the case against Hill had been reopened by the Kansas District Attorney’s office. However, it seems as if there will be no criminal charges placed against Hill, and that the case itself has been closed.

According to a report from Angie Ricono and Chris Oberholtz of KCTV News, a police investigation into what happened to HIll’s three-year-old son is now officially closed, and the wide receiver will not face any criminal charges.

“It is not an active investigation,” District Attorney Steve Howe told Brooke Pryor of the Kansas City Star on Friday. (via Pro Football Talk) “As in any case, if we receive additional evidence we reevaluate.”

According to Howe, he still believes a crime has been committed, but it seems as if no charges will be filed, possibly due to lack of evidence or any witnesses to the matter. Speaking on behalf of Hill, his attorney noted that the investigation had been closed “for quite some time now,” and that Hill maintains that he was not involved in the issue.

Although Hill isn’t facing any criminal charges, it’s unknown what the NFL will do with the controversial wide receiver. Hill hasn’t taken part in any offseason work with the Kansas City Chiefs, and the team hasn’t spoken about his issue since the NFL Draft. As of now, he is not suspended by the time nor is he on the Commissioner’s Exempt list, so it’ll be up to the NFL to decide if they would like to suspend him or simply allow him to go about preparing for the upcoming season.
