Before Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, Patrick Mahomes has never thrown an interception in the month of September throughout his career. So imagine the shockwaves it sent and the reaction of Kansas City Chiefs fans when Tavon Young ended that incredible streak.

Late in the third quarter and the Chiefs facing a third and 12 situation, Mahomes knew he needed to throw the ball no matter what. However, that mentality backfired greatly when he tripped while looking at his options.

Mahomes managed to throw the ball to Travis Kelce's direction, but Young saw the opportunity on the rather weak pass to intercept and gain the possession for the Ravens.

While Patrick Mahomes had little choice in the situation, it was undoubtedly an ill-advised decision that could have been avoided. Of course considering that it's his first interception in September after 38 touchdowns, 3,930 yards and 296 completed passes out of 430 attempts, it was met with shocked reactions from everyone watching the game.

To be clear, Patrick Mahomes has been sensational in the game. He had three touchdowns before the interception, staying as dominant as he has ever been. Unfortunately, the interception put the Chiefs in a tough spot since it allowed the Ravens to stay in the game instead of putting them down further.

The Ravens failed to score despite the interception, keeping the scores at 35-24 heading into the fourth quarter of the contest. Nonetheless, with the momentum turning to Baltimore's favor, they were able to take advantage and come back with a 12-0 run in the final frame to take down the Chiefs, 36-35.

Mahomes certainly wishes they could have extended their lead in the third. Had they done so, they were probably the ones celebrating after the contest. Now, they will have to review the tape and see what they could have done to score in that play.
