The Kansas City Chiefs will have a new look this season after trading All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. The former Chiefs standout wide receiver launched his new podcast It Needed To Be Said recently and made some bold comments. Among them, Hill claimed that his new quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, is more accurate than Mahomes. He also went on to say that he believed he deserved more credit for the success of the Chiefs offense.

Mahomes was then asked about Hill’s comments on the last day of Chiefs minicamp. NBC Sports‘ Myles Simmons captured Mahomes’ thoughts.

“I’m surprised a little just because I felt like we love Tyreek here. We’ve always loved him. We still love him… But I’m sure it had something to do with trying to get his podcast some stuff, get it rolling,” said Mahomes. “But as you know in coach Reid’s offense, it takes the whole team. This offense was rolling before I got here. This offense was rolling when I was a young Cowboys fan watching the Eagles beat up on the Cowboys. So I mean, it’s an offense that’s more than one player — and that includes myself.”

The first part about Tagovailoa being more accurate than Mahomes certainly feels like clickbait. The Chiefs QB is known for being deadly accurate since entering the league. Tagovailoa, on the other hand, has shown to be accurate on short to intermediate passes, but has struggled throwing deep.

This season will be very telling though just how true Hill’s sentiments were. Mahomes did make a living off of broken plays and finding the explosive Hill downfield. That will not be there this year. It should be interesting to see what Kansas City’s offense looks like without Hill in the fold.
