Kansas City Chiefs gunslinger Patrick Mahomes may have inked a record-breaking deal worth over $500 million during the offseason, but it seems like getting to secure the bag won't change him a bit.

The Super Bowl LIV MVP tries to keep his sight set on bigger things as he and the rest of the Chiefs attempt to bring another Lombardi Trophy back to the Chiefs Kingdom.

“I haven’t bought anything,” Patrick Mahomes told CBSSports.com. “My dad texted me a couple of days after the contract: ‘Do you feel any different.’ I said I feel exactly the same. I’m going to be the same person I was before I got the contract and before I got to the NFL — to be the best Patrick Mahomes I can be every single day.”

The 24-year old and his team have had an impressive run last season. The Chiefs easily topped the AFC West with a 12-4 overall record and maintained a safe distance from the 7-9 Denver Broncos. Their dominant performance carried on into the playoffs as they dismantled another contender in the Houston Texans on their home turf, 51-31. The upstart Tennessee Titans became their next victim as the Chiefs went on to secure a 35-24 win to advance to the Super Bowl stage.

Mahomes then took over in the second half of the championship game to set up his team for a comeback win against the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20. The victory ultimately ended a 50-year championship drought in Kansas City.

The league's top gunslinger and the rest of the Chiefs will begin their title defense in the kickoff game against the Houston Texans on September 10 at the Arrowhead Stadium.
