Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes hasn't been at his best this season and he's fully aware of it. The quarterback put forward a rough performance in Week 7 as they were embarrassed by the Tennessee Titans, 27-3. This week in practice, Mahomes took full responsibility and held himself accountable to his teammates. Via The Kansas City Star:

“You can just watch the tape and know that I need to play better in order to have success,” the Chiefs signal-caller said. “There were plays (in which) guys were open. There were plays we had matches downfield that I didn’t hit that I usually would give those guys opportunities to make plays.

“I said stuff to my Chiefs teammates, saying that I gotta be better. But at the same time, they have that mindset that they’re going to try to build me up. It’s a thing where you’re not going to play your best game every single game —you’re going to have to rely on those other guys to step up and make plays for you.”

Sunday was easily the worst performance of Mahomes' career with the Chiefs, failing to throw for a single touchdown while completing 20 of 35 passes for just 206 yards. He was also sacked four times before exiting early with a head injury.

There's no doubt that Kansas City has been downright awful defensively, but their offense clearly didn't show up. At 3-4, the Chiefs will need to turn things around very quickly. When Mahomes spoke to his team about his shortcomings from Week 7, it really hit home:

“To see our main leader take responsibility and not point the finger, it sets a precedent for us,” defensive end Alex Okafor said. “And we know we need to put our head down and work.”

The Chiefs will be looking to get back to .500 on Monday night as they face Daniel Jones and the New York Giants.
