The Kansas City Chiefs continue to add championship pedigree to its roster by way of 2019 national champion and former LSU Tigers running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

The running back out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was selected by the Chiefs with the 32nd pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. As early as now, the rookie wasted no time to get to know his Chiefs teammates.

According to the ChiefsWire on USA Today:

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and rookie RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire both reported for training camp today. The two are in the building in Kansas City together for the first time, but they’ve already had a head start on creating some chemistry this offseason.

“Clyde (Edward-Helaire) has been through some of those workouts and he has been out there,” Mahomes said. “I got to meet him and talk to him a little bit and obviously stay in touch throughout the whole process in general. He’s a guy that you know is a hard worker, you can tell by his demeanor, you can tell by the way he’s out there and what he does off the field and on the field. I’m excited to have him involved in the offense now and get out there more and more with him and build some chemistry.”

The 5'7″, 210-pound rookie had an impressive collegiate campaign with powerhouse LSU. He recorded a total of 2103 rushing yards, 370 rushing attempts, and 23 rushing touchdowns in a span of 38 games through three seasons with the Tigers.

His entry to the team will be a boost to an already dangerous Chiefs offense. His scoring capabilities will give reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes another target for the upcoming season.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire will get his first taste of professional football play on September 10 as the Chiefs face the Houston Texans for the kickoff game of the 2020 season.
