Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes finished second in the NFL in passing yardage this past season, throwing for 5,097 yards. But going into 2019, Caesars Entertainment is favoring him to finish No. 1 with 7/2 odds, per Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan comes in second with 11/2 odds and Indianapolis Colts signal-caller Andrew Luck and Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns are tied for third at 7/1.

Rounding out the top five are New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Green Bay Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers, who come in at 9/1 and 10/1 odds, respectively.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has 12/1 odds in spite of leading the NFL in passing yards in 2018. His ranking is obviously due to the loss of wide receiver Antonio Brown, who was traded to the Oakland Raiders.

Mahomes also led the NFL with 50 touchdowns to go along with his yardage total, throwing 12 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 113.8 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and the MVP award.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas Tech, was originally selected by the Chiefs with the 10th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He spent his rookie campaign behind veteran Alex Smith, starting one game and completing 22 of his 35 passes for 284 yards and a pick. Kansas City then proceeded to trade Smith that ensuing offseason in order to clear the way for Mahomes, and it proved to be an incredibly wise decision, as Mahomes led the Chiefs to 12 wins, an AFC West division title and an AFC Championship Game appearance.
