Although Patrick Mahomes has spent just one season as the Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback, the former first-round NFL Draft pick actually has two professional seasons under his belt as it stands today. Spending one entire season and part of the next in the locker room alongside former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, Mahomes is glad that the current Cleveland Browns rusher ultimately received another NFL opportunity.

“It’s something where he gets another opportunity,” Mahomes said on Tuesday, via Tom Withers of the Associated Press. “I’m sure they will have things that he needs to do off the field in order to be on the field playing. Kareem is a great player, great running back.”

Of course, Hunt was not initially expected to receive another opportunity at the NFL level, let alone so quickly. After being released by the Chiefs midway through last season, Hunt was then signed by the up-and-coming Browns early on in the offseason, thanks to his free agent status.

Hunt was released by Kansas City after a video surfaced of him assaulting a young woman. With the league's back-and-forth decision-making tactics almost always varying when it comes to domestic violence, it remains to be seen as to how quickly Hunt is allowed to return to the field as a member of the Browns.

If Hunt manages to return to the fold rather quickly, it could create quite a backfield for Cleveland. In addition to Hunt, the Browns are currently employing fellow running backs, Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson Jr., as well.
