The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will do battle in the Super Bowl in a couple of weeks, and it will certainly represent a clash of two entirely different philosophies.

While the Chiefs rely heavily on their prolific aerial attack, the 49ers are dependent on a strong running game and a dominant defense.

How different these teams are is reflected in the stats of their quarterbacks throughout this postseason. Check this out: Patrick Mahomes has more passing yards in the second quarter of his two playoff games than Jimmy Garoppolo has during the entire playoffs:

Garoppolo threw just eight passes in the 49ers' 37-20 win over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, as San Francisco was carried by running back Raheem Mostert, who rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Mahomes completed 23 of his 35 throws for 294 yards and three touchdowns during the Chiefs' AFC Championship Game victory over the Tennessee Titans, also rushing for 53 yards and a score.

Obviously, no one expects Garoppolo to outpace Mahomes, but the difference between the workloads of the two quarterbacks in this postseason has been staggering.

Of course, Mahomes is a year removed from winning the NFL's MVP award after throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns. This season, he threw for 4,031 yards, 26 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 65.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 105.3 in 14 games.

Meanwhile, Garoppolo finished with 3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 picks while completing 69.1 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 102 in what his first full season as a starter this year.
