Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expected to miss another week after suffering a knee injury on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos.

Mahomes dislocated his right kneecap after extending for a first down on a quarterback sneak. Many believed the injury to be serious, but there was some hope that he could even play last week.

Because Mahomes is not ready to go, backup quarterback Matt Moore is expected to get the start. Moore came in for Mahomes during Monday Night Football and led the team to a win. Moore also played well against the Green bay Packers, but ultimately lost the game.

Backup quarterback Chad Henne was also taken off injured reserve and will backup Moore in case of injury.

Prior to going down with injury, Mahomes and the Chiefs lost back-to-back games against the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts. Kansas City stands at 5-3 on the season, but are still in command of the AFC West. Kansas City also ranks fifth in the AFC Conference.

It is imperative that Mahomes comes back for the Chiefs before the team falls any more in the division or conference.

Kansas City has upcoming matchups against the Vikings — this week — and New England Patriots.

This season, Mahomes has 2,180 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and one interception. It looked like another potential MVP-caliber season for the former Red Raider until the injury.

Until Mahomes returns for the Chiefs, expect head coach Andy Reid to draw up some competitive matchups like he did last week for Moore and company.
