Through the first four games of the year, Kansas City Chiefs second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes has taken the league by storm behind his stellar play.
Following yet another impressive outing, Mahomes has been elevated as the clear-cut favorite to win the 2018 regular season MVP award by BetOnline.ag.
The 23-year-old has been off to a blazing start in his first go-around as the full-time starter as he has been able to lead the Chiefs toward an undefeated mark through the first month behind his arm. Mahomes has moved toward 14 touchdown passes through the first month of the season that has pushed him to be in an exclusive group with Peyton Manning as being the only players in league history to notch at least 14 touchdown passes over that stretch. He has shown to be the complete package quarterback behind his strong, accurate arm along with his keen decision making throwing the ball and the ability to extend plays with his legs.
He has helped push the Chiefs to hold one of the league's most productive offense that ranks first with 39.5 points per game. Mahomes has also posted 300 or more passing yards in each of the last three games while notching three or more touchdown passes and a passer rating above 100 on three instances. This is yet another step up in the betting odds as he had become the favorite to earn the MVP award last week being a 3-1 leader and had opened up 100-1 prior to the start of the 2018 season.
