Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is on track through six games to break the single-season passing record. Mahomes has thrown for 2,104 yards in the first six games, which puts him on pace to throw for 5,611 yards this season.

Peyton Manning currently holds the record with 5,477 yards thrown in a season. He did that in 2013 at the ripe age of 37 when he was a member of the Denver Broncos. Mahomes needs to throw 3,374 yards through the final 10 games, which is 337.4 yards per game.

More importantly right now than a record is getting back on the winning track on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs have lost two games in a row and Mahomes is banged up with an ankle injury. A church in Prairie Village, Kansas went as far as holding a prayer service to pray for Mahomes' ankle.

“With the last two games, we kind of thought that they may need some type of help,” Dave Burton, the facilities director at Asbury United Methodist Church in Prairie Village told Fox4 KC. “We knew that his ankle was injured so we decided to possibly have a healing service to help him heal that ankle quicker.”

Having a prayer service for his ankle seems a bit overboard, but people in Kansas are serious about their Chiefs football. Maybe if his ankle heals and the Chiefs can win a couple of games, Burton can lead a prayer service for Mahomes in hopes that he can break Manning's passing yards record.
