The Super Bowl LIV champion Kansas City Chiefs had a special day as they received their championship ring from last season's victory. However, Super Bowl LIV MVP Patrick Mahomes had a different ring in mind as he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Brittany Lynne Matthews, right after the ceremony.
Matthews was ecstatic to share the moment to the public with a photo on her Instagram story that showed what appeared to be one of the suites inside the stadium. The scene was filled with candles and flowers, and a glowing sign that said “WILL YOU MARRY ME.”
Mahomes also shared a photo of the enormous emerald cut diamond ring that he gave to his girlfriend. The post was coupled with a caption of “ring szn” written on the said Instagram story.
The two go way back when they first started dating at Whitehouse High School in Texas. Mahomes was still playing the safety position back in his high school days. The couple continued their relationship in college as Mahomes went to Texas Tech University while Matthews played soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler.
Their financial future is definitely secured as Mahomes recently signed a lucrative 10-year, $450 million contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 24-year old gunslinger continues to see relevant success happening both on and off the field as he progresses through a seemingly Hall of Fame-bound career.
Patrick Mahomes' newest milestone should only inspire him to further improve his game and lead the Chiefs back to supremacy in the upcoming season.
