Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver DK Metcalf was out to prove that he could qualify for the Olympics. Unfortunately, his heat resulted in a last-place finish, according to Chris Chavez of Sports Illustrated. He still surprised a ton of people with his staggering time, especially considering his physique.

Watch the entire race below, as it should be easy to tell Metcalf apart.

For the record, Metcalf is between 30-50 pounds heavier than anybody else who participated, so the fact he didn't get blown out of the water is a victory in itself.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was among many who were impressed. The former Super Bowl-winning quarterback took to Twitter to pay his respects to Metcalf.

Mahomes is saying what all of us think. It's a marvel to watch a guy the size of Metcalf run that quick and compete with Olympic athletes. Mahomes also teased wide receiver Tyreek Hill with a tweet, egging on his star pass-catcher to get in on the action.

Perhaps Hill and Metcalf can put together a one-vs-one race between two Pro Bowl receivers. Otherwise, the idea itself is something to picture. Hill is a lot shorter and smaller than Metcalf, so it seems like a competition Tyreek should win rather easily.

Nonetheless, the attempt and result were surprising as DK Metcalf exceeded expectations by many out there. Better luck next time, and maybe we will see Metcalf do this in the future as he continues to grow and train.
