Last we checked, Patrick Mahomes is still a Kansas City Chiefs player. You might be confused too if you saw the Kansas City Royals sections over at Scheels, which is apparently exclusive to Mahomes-only Royals gear. For his part, Royals player Whit Merrifield could not help but call out the sporting goods store for their special treatment of the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

Apparently, Merrifield would like to sit down with Scheels management to raise one pressing concern of his (h/t Larry Brown of Larry Brown Sports):

Mahomes caught wind of Merrifield's tweet, and responded in the affirmative:

Even the Chiefs gunslinger seems to have been surprised by how much Royals gear has his name on it, even though he isn't even a member of the team. I guess that's what you get when you're currently one of the best players in the NFL. You can't blame Scheels either, especially considering how the Royals finished fourth in the AL Central last season.

Apparently, Mahomes Royals gear generates more sales for them than some of the actual Royals players. That's actually not surprising.

As for his football, Mahomes and the Chiefs return to action on Sunday when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This has been one of the most highly-anticipated matchups of the season, with Mahomes going head-to-head against one of the greatest quarterbacks ever in Tom Brady. It's the old guard taking on the new school in what should be a highly entertaining matchup.
