Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is coming off of a historic 2018 campaign in which he threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 113.8 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance, a First-Team All-Pro selection and an MVP award.

Obviously, it's going to be tough for Mahomes to replicate that season in 2019, and as for those who are doubting his ability to repeat as the league's Most Valuable Player? Mahomes doesn't particularly care for individual accolades anyway.

“As a QB going out there I’m trying to be the best I can be,” said Mahomes, according to Soren Petro of Sportsradio 810 WHB. “It’s not about me. It’s about all the guys around me and us coming together to grow as a team.”

That is exactly the attitude you want from your starting quarterback. Instead of lashing back at his doubters, Mahomes is merely remaining focused on the task at hand, which is winning a Super Bowl.

The Chiefs won 12 games and captured the AFC West division title this past season, locking down the No. 1 seed in the conference. They then went on to defeat the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round before falling to the New England Patriots in an overtime thriller in the AFC Championship Game the following week.

Now, Mahomes and Co. are preparing to take the next step, and in order to do that, they are going to have to tune out all of the noise and expectations, and it looks like Mahomes is already a pro at handling it.
