The Kansas City Chiefs still haven't received a conclusive answer regarding the availability of quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills. However, the 2018 NFL MVP is participating in a “very light” practice Wednesday and will see his work ramp up if he continues to trend in the right direction as he goes through the concussion protocol, per NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport. Mahomes reportedly has no symptoms.

Mahomes was left on the ground after absorbing a hit from Cleveland Browns linebacker Mack Wilson in the third quarter of this past weekend's game. After he was shaken up, Mahomes needed help to get off the field and proceeded to be examined in the blue tent afterward. The superstar quarterback eventually headed straight to the locker room and didn't return to the game.
Nonetheless, the Chiefs still managed to hold on and snag a 22-17 victory over the Browns even with backup Chad Henne at the helm. Mahomes will have to clear concussion protocol first before he can suit up for the all-important game against the Bills.
If Mahomes isn't able to go, Henne will have to handle the playmaking duties on Sunday for the Chiefs. Head coach Andy Reid and his squad will hope to have Patrick Mahomes back as soon as possible so they can match up against the Bills at full strength and ultimately book their ticket to Super Bowl LV, which would be against either the Green Bay Packers or Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
