There's no denying that Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the best players of his generation. What may not be known to some, however, is that the 25-year-old is a pretty savvy entrepreneur as well.

Mahomes recently invested some money in the fast-rising world of non-fungible tokens (NFT), which is the latest cryptocurrency phenomenon that has hit the mainstream market. The Chiefs QB decided to sell off a number of digital artworks in an online auction, and the results have been jaw-dropping:

Mahomes recently spoke about his decision to invest in NFTs and what he expects to get out of it (h/t CNBC on Twitter):

This promotional video appears to have worked wonders as fans and investors have since jumped on the opportunity to purchase the Chiefs star's digital art pieces. To be clear, when we say digital it means that the artworks can only be viewed on a computer or a mobile device. These are not physical art pieces that one can hang on the wall.

It's simply mind-boggling how people are willing to pay insane amounts of money to get in on the NFT game. However, if you actually spend some time looking into it, you should be able to realize why there is so much hype around it. Patrick Mahomes has already jumped in on the bandwagon and clearly, it's been a smashing success for him.
