Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made headlines with his dazzling skill set on the basketball court. Unfortunately, it appears his hooping days are over.

Mahomes' extra-curricular activities have raised concern in the Chiefs' front office due to the risk of injury. According to Soren Petro of 810 WHB, general manager Brett Veach says he will no longer be playing basketball.

“We spoke to Pat Mahomes’ agent and said Chiefs Kingdom can be assured there will be no more basketball for Pat. We were able to nip that in the bud.”

Mahomes confirmed Veach's notion with a post on social media, via Bleacher Report.

The decision to limit Mahomes' offseason activities is certainly understandable. The Chiefs have made quite the investment in Mahomes and it has started to pay off with his emergence as their franchise player. The last thing they need is for him to get injured while taking some average joe's to school at the local gym.

There is no question that Mahomes has been everything that Chiefs have hoped for and more in terms of a franchise quarterback. They were patient with his development after essentially sitting him out his entire rookie campaign. It has certainly paid off after he led Kansas City to the AFC Championship Game en route to NFL MVP honors.

The future is looking bright for the Chiefs moving forward. they have finally built a roster worthy of competing with any team in the league. Their primary concern moving forward will be making sure Mahomes is as healthy as possible.
