There is plenty of hype surrounding this week's AFC Divisional matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts. Despite the circumstances, quarterback Patrick Mahomes does not plan on switching things up.

Mahomes has been one of the most electrifying players in the league in the 2018 NFL season. According to ESPN's Adam Teicher, he hopes to simply maintain his high level of play versus the Colts:

“Be myself, lean on my teammates and go out and win a football game,”

It is encouraging to see that Mahomes is keeping a similar mindset going into the playoffs. Being himself has worked out just fine for the Chiefs following an MVP-caliber season while also leading Kansas City to the No. 1 seed in the AFC Conference. There is a good reason for him to be confident in his skill set going against Indianapolis.

Mahomes became just the second player in NFL history to throw for 50 touchdowns and 5,000 yards in a season. Even more impressive is the spectacular fashion in which he did it in. He is capable of making any throw on the field with uncanny precision. Not only does he boast the strongest arm in the league, but his mobility also allows him to avoid sacks and extend plays.

Mahomes only shortcomings this season were his losses in crucial games. Kansas City has not had much luck in primetime games throughout the 2018 campaign. This is not the most optimistic sign since every game from here on out is on primetime. It is no secret that Chiefs fans are aching for a deep playoff run after years of early-round knockouts. The pressure will undoubtedly be on Mahomes to provide.
