Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been nothing short of amazing this season. On Sunday, Mahomes solidified his MVP caliber season as he threw his 40th touchdown pass of the  in Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. It's only Week 13 of the regular season.

Mahomes joined Tom Brady and Peyton Manning on this elite list, two of the greatest quarterbacks to ever take the field. Mahomes entered Sunday's game against the Raiders with 3,628 yards and 37 touchdown passes. At the rate he is playing at this won't be the only milestone the young gunslinger will achieve this season. With four more weeks left in the regular season, Mahomes will see his name next to other legends of the game as long as he continues to play at an elite level.

Mahomes has lead the Chiefs to a AFC West best 10-2 record and considering how disappointing the defensive side of the ball has been for the Chiefs, it's evident that the success is mostly due to the stellar offense. Considering Mahomes was given this opportunity after the Chiefs traded former quarterback Alex Smith, he has made the most out of his opportunity to say the least.

Mahomes' talent was never questioned, it was just a matter of waiting for the opportunity to arise, and clearly the Chiefs believed in Mahomes from the beginning. Kansas City drafted Mahomes high in last season's draft and the writing was on the wall from that point that sooner or later they would be giving the young man a chance to be their quarterback.
