Sammy Watkins exited last Sunday's game with the Kansas City Chiefs due to a head and neck injury that he suffered after taking a hit against the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite being in the concussion protocol this week, Watkins has worked hard to possibly be ready to play on Monday night, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

After taking a hit to the head versus the Chargers, Watkins exited the game and was entered into the league's concussion protocol. It was also discovered that the veteran wide receiver sustained an injury to his neck during the play that caused him to exit early in Week 2.

To begin the week, Watkins was unable to practice and his ability to play in Week 3 looked murky at best. However, Watkins has worked tirelessly to improve as the week has progressed, practicing in the last two days.

While the veteran receiver hasn't been cleared from the concussion protocol yet, his availability for Monday's highly-anticipated matchup with the Baltimore Ravens is trending upward. Andy Reid credits Watkins' resiliency and work ethic for getting himself in a possible position to play this week.

In Week 1 against the Houston Texans, Watkins caught seven passes for 82 yards and one touchdown. He would catch one pass for 11 yards before his early exodus in Kansas City's narrow victory over the Chargers in Week 2.

If Watkins is unable to be cleared before Monday's game, Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson would likely see expanded roles for the Chiefs. But seeing that he hasn't practiced in the past two days, he may have a probable designation against the Ravens.
