Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins is officially out for the rest of Week 5's game against the Indianapolis Colts with a hamstring injury, the team announced. The wide receiver entered the game as questionable with shoulder and hamstring injuries.

In addition, defensive lineman Chris Jones is out with a groin injury, linebacker Anthony Hitchens with a groin and defensive lineman Xavier Williams with an ankle.

Watkins left the game on the opening drive. He was with trainers on the sideline before going to the locker room and ultimately leaving the game as a whole. He did not tally any stats in his brief performance on “Sunday Night Football.”

With Watkins out, Kansas City is remarkably thin at wide receiver, as Tyreek Hill did not play with a shoulder injury sustained in Week 1. The rest of Sunday night's game should feature plenty of Demarcus Robinson, Mecole Hardmon, Byron Pringle, and De'Anthony Thomas.

Watkins had a big Week 1 performance — tallying nine receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns. However, since then, he has not done anything to re-enter the spotlight recording six catches for 49 yards performance, five catches for 64 yards one, and three catches for 54 yards one.

To beat the Colts at home, Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid will need to get creative in the workings of their offense. Expect to see plenty of the previous four named wide receivers mentioned as well as standout tight end Travis Kelce. The Chiefs could also use running backs Damien Williams, LeSean McCoy, and Darrel Williams to negate the injury.
