After the Kansas City Chiefs activated quarterback Chad Henne, the general presumption for Sunday's tilt with the Minnesota Vikings was that Patrick Mahomes won't play. Don't tell that to Ed Werner of ESPN‘s sources, though. According to the Chiefs beat reporter, there is a “chance” that the superstar quarterback will play on Sunday.

The likeliest situation, though, is that Kansas City will let Mahomes rest another week to ensure his long-term health. The 2018 NFL MVP suffered a dislocated knee cap in Week 7's win over the Denver Broncos.

Though Mahomes made his way back to practice far earlier than expected, the Chiefs aren't in the business of risking Mahomes' health — especially with a stronghold on the AFC West division at 5-3.

Filling in for Mahomes will be backup Matt Moore. Last week, in Kansas City’s loss to Green Bay, he threw for 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns on a 66% completion rate. He has filled in nicely for Mahomes and coach Andy Reid is happy with what he has done filling in for the 2018 MVP.

Listen, I appreciate how he handled his business last week,” Reid said, via Charles Goldman of the Chiefs Wire. “I don’t know him as well as maybe the other guys, but I liked what I saw. He goes about it the right way. The players around him have confidence, which ends up being very important.”

Whether or not Mahomes truly does play will be known 90 minutes before game-time. Unless one of Adam Schefter or Ian Rapoport goes on one of their signature late-night injury report sprees.
