Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is close to achieving a milestone.

If the Pro Bowler tallies 108 more yards this year, he will pass New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski for the most receiving yards by a tight end in a single season.

If Kelce merely hits his season average of 87.1 yards per game over the final two weeks, he will shatter that record.

The 29-year-old has hauled in 93 receptions to get those 1,220 yards this far, adding 10 touchdowns to boot. All three of those statistics represent career highs for Kelce.

Kelce, who played his collegiate football at the University of Cincinnati, was originally selected by the Chiefs in the third round (63rd pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

However, due to a micro-fracture procedure in his knee, Kelce played in just one game during his rookie campaign.

The following year, he displayed his remarkable talent, catching 67 passes for 862 yards and five touchdowns. He then snared 72 balls for 875 yards and five scores in 2015 en route to his first Pro Bowl.

This season will represent Kelce's fourth straight trip to Honolulu, and in 2016, he not only made the Pro Bowl, but was named a First-Team All-Pro after finishing with 85 receptions for 1,125 yards while reaching the end zone four times.

Kansas City currently owns a record of 11-3 and is coming off of a home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. In spite of the loss, it still sits in first place in the AFC West by way of tiebreakers.

The Chiefs will take on the Seattle Seahawks this weekend.
