The Kansas City Chiefs entered Super Bowl LV as the favorite over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, only to be thoroughly embarrassed by Tom Brady and a ferocious Buccaneers defense. The high-powered Chiefs offense only mustered nine points in a 22-point loss as Patrick Mahomes ran for his life all game long.

Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce had a big game with 10 catches for 133 yards, but that was no solace given the ugly nature of the final score. Kelce and the Chiefs were confident heading into the game and couldn't believe how things played out.

Kelce opened up on the debacle to Zach Frydenlund of Complex:

“We felt very confident going into the last game. We knew who we were. We knew the type of game that we were capable of having and we didn’t really think that losing 31-9 was even in the fucking picture, excuse my language, but we didn’t. It wasn’t even a thought in our mind. … It was never even a thought, and sure enough, everything happened rapidly. I mean, we got down 21 to, I think, 6 or 27-6. I forget what happened in the first half, but we got down real quick and from that point on, it was just an uphill battle …  It was a helpless feeling.”

The Chiefs star even admitted he didn't want to show his face around Kansas City after the shellacking. The performance was so out of character for a team that had been so good all season long.

While the Chiefs were embarrassed in that game, they're now ready to bounce back and be in Super Bowl contention again in 2021. They revamped their offensive line and still have a ridiculous amount of talent on offense with Mahomes leading the show. Kelce just had a career year and will be looking to continue his reign as the best tight end in the NFL.
