Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been rated as the top tight end in the NFL through the first 14 weeks of the regular season.

Kelce has had a monster year in Kansas City, as he entered Thursday night's matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers with 86 receptions and 1,159 receiving yards while racking up 10 touchdowns.

And that type of production has been enough to put him ahead of all other tight ends in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

There's no doubt that Kelce has been a popular target for Patrick Mahomes in the passing game, and when these two are on the same page, it can equal enormous numbers for both.

Kelce had his most productive game of the season a few weeks ago in the 40-33 win over the Raiders, with the sixth-year pro posted 12 receptions on 13 targets for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

He's already off to a solid start against the Chargers, and if the Chiefs want to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender, they'll need him to keep playing at an elite level.

Thursday's night matchup at Arrowhead Stadium is crucial for both teams, as the Chiefs could stay one step ahead in the battle for home-field advantage in the AFC.

Kelce and company still have to go on the road to play the Seattle Seahawks next week before returning home for the season finale against the Raiders in Week 17.

But with a win over the Chargers, the Chiefs would be in a great spot entering the final two weeks of the regular season.
