With less than two minutes left in the first half and the Kansas City Chiefs up 14-3 on the Tennessee Titans in the 2018 AFC Wild Card Playoffs, Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce suffered a concussion on a 12-yard reception and was unable to return to the game. The Chiefs would eventually score on that drive and head into the locker room with a 21-3 lead.

For Chiefs fans, the rest is just another painful playoff memory at Arrowhead Stadium as Kansas City lost a 22-21 heartbreaker to Tennesee. However, according to a report from Adam Teicher of ESPN, Kelce had absolutely no idea that they allowed 19 unanswered points to the Titans until the Chiefs' final drive of the game.

“I missed the entire second half up until the last drive,” Kelce said. “I jumped out of an MRI machine and looked at the score and (wondered) “What the heck is going on?’ I haven’t really peeked at the film ever since because I really don’t want to know what the heck just happened. I don’t think the people doing the MRIs and the X-rays even watch the game. I don’t even (think) there’s a TV in there. I didn’t get any updates. Talk about ruin your day.”

After finding all of that out at once, Kelce could only hope that former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith could mark the Kansas City offense down the field.

“All the air just left my body. I just sat down and had my fingers crossed that (quarterback Alex Smith) could go out there and make some plays and get us on to the next round.”

Unfortunately, the Chiefs' final drive of the game stalled at the Tennessee 44-yard line when Smith was unable to complete a fourth-and-nine pass.

With Smith now a member of the Washington Redskins, the keys to the Kansas City offense now belong to the team's 2017 first-round draft pick in quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
