Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is not going anywhere.

Kelce said on Thursday he is intent on playing football as long as he can, also adding his desire to remain with the Chiefs for the remainder of his career

Via Pete Sweeney of SB Nation:

“I always say I want to play this game as long as I can,” said Kelce. “There’s a whole lot of truth behind that, and I love playing in Kansas City. I can’t even fathom wearing another jersey. I can’t fathom playing under a different coach, under a different organization. Everybody here knows that I love this city for everything that it has given me, it has given the Chiefs since I’ve been here, and I don’t plan on playing anywhere else for the rest of my career. As long as the Hunt family is offering me a check to come back every single year, I feel like I’m going to be here because I love playing for this organization and obviously, coach Reid.”

The 30-year-old still has two years left on his current contract, and the Chiefs figure to ride things out as they hope to set aside some money for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Simultaneously, it is unlikely the Chiefs would not re-sign Kelce. He has been named to the Pro Bowl in five consecutive seasons, and he was named first-team All-Pro in both 2016 and 2018.

Moreover, Kelce is arguably Mahomes' most reliable target. He led the Chiefs in receiving yards last season, and is an established presence in the red zone.

Kelce has been a franchise staple since he was drafted by the Chiefs in 2013. He has nothing but love for the franchise, which figures to reciprocate those feelings with a new contract down the road.
